The Plan was to Circumnavigate Lopez. What we didn’t know was that Transient Orcas had the same plan. We met them charging in through Cattle Pass with 6 knots of current. The power of the incoming ocean coupled with the power of these whales was phenomenal. The T65As are our Resident Transients – we see them frequently. However T125 125A, T127 and T128 haven’t been seen in this area, The Salish Sea, since 1992 ! We sailed North, passed the ferry at Upright Head and down the east side of the island – and they came too. All manner of behaviours and stopping for lunch at the Harbor seal Restaurants. We had our own BBQ supper off Iceberg Point in mirror conditions of sunset.
