September 11th 2017 – South in San Juan Channel and out Cattle Pass to meet Southern Resident Killer Whales from L pod – the L12’s were foraging at Salmon Bank. We were surprised and elated to see a Minke Whale breach close to L25 Ocean Sun and L41 Mega. Goofy behavior from 5 yr old orca L119, Joy, vocalizing, playing with kelp and spyhops. California and Steller sea lions on Whale Rocks. It doesn’t get any better than this!
