May 28, 2018 – Today was a special quadruple birthday celebration sail. As we headed north a humpback whale was coming south. Quite chilly/windy conditions at first which prompted us to reef the main sail. We caught up with the humpback which we ID’d as BCYuk2015#2 “Chinook”. After enjoying our time with the humpback, we cut across San Juan Channel to drift in surprisingly calm waters near the Wasp Islands. A perfect place to enjoy a birthday moment with a delicious smoked cheese cake brought all the way from home for her husband’s birthday. Yum! When all was said and done, Rich took the helm and did an excellent job sailing us back to port in tricky, gusty conditions. Well done!
