June 19, 2018 – Harbor seals were basking in the sunshine with the falling tide and bald eagles were dotted along shore up in the trees. After admiring the gorgeous Orcas Island forested coastline we crossed Presidents Channel to get up close and personal with Pt Disney. Moon jellyfish gracefully floated by in the gentle current. Sailed across to White Rock and then on to one of our favorite places, New Channel. Bull kelp growing by the minute turning into underwater forests where the seals like to hide. Still waters, black oyster catchers, bald eagles with freshly caught fish, peregrine falcon parent feeding its chicks, harbor seals swimming about. Welcome to their world. Up and around Stuart Island to Lovers Leap and back down to another favorite place, Flattop Island, in stunning evening light. After dropping passengers off at Orcas Island we were treated to the most spectacular sunset we’ve seen this year. First the fog rolled in and the sun turned fiery pink.
