June 23, 2018 – We sailed north with a report of T49A’s, T65A’s and T137’s north of Flattop Island. As we arrived the T49A’s and T65A’s had cleared towards Skipjack and we met the T137’s now traveling south and sailed with them through Spring Pass. Fast travel passed Friday Harbor before hunting at Canoe Island. We continued to check out the forested shoreline of Upright Head before rejoining as the whales circumnavigated Shaw Island. We watched them on another hunt at the entrance to Pole Pass. After taking Pole Pass we left them close to where we started at Jones Island and we continued to Flattop Island. At Flattop we found a dead steller sea lion and a great deal of eagle activity. We had supper in the lee of the island listening to eagle and raven calls and returned home. We learned later that the T137’s were rejoined by the T49A’s and T65A’s who porpoised 12 knots to meet them at Pt Doughty near sunset.
