July 16, 2018 – We rode a fast ebb around the kelp forest of Turn Rock and sailed to Lopez Island. Followed the Lopez shoreline to Shark Reef, inside Deadmans Island and on to Whale Rocks. Lots and lots of harbor seals basking in the sunshine. There were many bait balls as we searched Salmon Bank looking for minke whales. It wasn’t until we began our return that Barbara spotted a minke whale at Goose Island. The minke crossed Cattle Pass and we got a good view as he/she approached Mummy Rocks. We continued on to examine an eagle’s nest at Long Island. We then crossed the chuck of the flood current to wiz by Goose Island and ride the flood north. Returned by way of Turn Island pass.
