July 21, 2018 -We sailed south through Turn Island Pass and a beam reach to Big Rock, Lopez Island. Followed the Lopez shoreline passed Shark Reef and inside Deadmans Island. The report was the T99’s with exotic California transient orcas, CA40 and CA137, incoming from Hein Bank. We met them as they approached Salmon Bank and sailed alongside while the T99’s broke away from the CA’s on a course for Cattle Point Light. We stayed with the Californians as they traveled west. We broke away to meet two humpback whales. One of them has been ID’d as BCXukKeta2014#1 aka “Crater”. We sailed alongside as they traveled over Salmon Bank with shallow dives and on towards MacArthur Bank. We paid a visit to Colville Island where many harbor seals lined the jagged coastline. Inside of Castle Rock we met a bald eagle who watched us take the pass into McArdle Bay. We anchored in the beautiful cove for our supper. We sailed on to Swirl Island and tacked the Lopez shoreline to Iceberg Pt. Inside Hall Island and Long Island. Many harbor seals basking in sunset light as we headed home.
