All Aboard Sailing

Full day sail to New Channel, Pt Disney, and the north side of Orcas Island

September 27, 2018 – We had a really fun family onboard today ready for adventure with one celebrating her birthday. A nice relaxing cruise tacking up the channel, through the Wasp Islands, and to one of our favorite places, New Channel. Harbor porpoise played in the current while harbor seals relaxed on their rocks. As we cut through the Cactus Islands admiring the beautiful bull kelp forests we were watched by a bald eagle up in the trees.

Sailing fast close-hauled we made our way over to Flattop Island to get a closer look at the layers of time in the geology.  We tacked back and forth over the top of White Rock National Wildlife Refuge to the gorgeous Pt Disney on Waldron Island. Passengers relaxed in the bean bags on the forward deck in the sunshine as we crossed Presidents Channel to the steep forested shoreline of Orcas Island. Cutting down Spring Pass back towards the Wasp Islands we weaved our way down San Juan Channel. Before we made it back to the harbor we surprised our passenger with a birthday cake. A wish was made and smiles continued all the way back to the dock.
