Evening sail with Biggs/Transient orcas T124A’s with T86A1

June 25, 2019 – As we cast off we decided to sail south and down towards Cattle Point. To our surprise a group of Biggs/transient orcas popped up a couple hundred yards ahead of us coming through Cattle Pass. It was the T124A’s with T86A1. The tight group came into Griffin Bay and travelled together towards Friday Harbor. We had a beautiful sail alongside counting the orcas as they surfaced almost in unison.

As we rounded Turn Island the orcas changed course towards San Juan Island to travel close to the shoreline. Spectacular backlit blows as they came up to breathe against the dark backdrop.

Dinner was served and we watched the orcas continue on their way as we enjoyed the setting sun. The clouds changed into many different shades of purple, yellow, orange with a finale of hot pink. A perfect way to end a perfect sail.
