Great sail and beautiful day on the water

July 30, 2019 – Great winds for sailing. Our passenger did an excellent job at the helm downwind sailing up San Juan Channel.

As we sailed through New Channel it was fun watching the currents forming whirlpools and back eddies. There were many bald eagles on Spieden Island and plenty of harbor seals resting on the rocks and islands.

We had a nice sail across to Flattop Island where the layers of geology stood out with the shadows from the sun. Bald eagles watched as we sailed by.

Cutting across towards Orcas Island we admired the steep forested hillsides. With the strong tide against us in Spring Pass we motor sailed for a bit until we made it to the Wasp Islands for a good sail back home.
