A sail with the T100’s near Turn Pt Lighthouse

June 8, 2020 – After hearing a report of orcas in San Juan Channel we scooted out the door in a hurry and cast off on another adventure. The Biggs/Transient orcas, a family of four known as the T100’s, moved quickly up the channel making a left turn into Spieden Channel. It took longer than we expected to catch up with them. We met them at Turn Point Lighthouse where they stopped for awhile pointing into the tide rip. We paralleled them with the border between us on a beam reach before changing tack to point into wind with a fast sail to Flattop Island. There were just a few pigeon guillemots scattered near their cliff site and it was good to hear their high pitched whistles again.
