July 12, 2020 – Beautiful evening for a short sunset sail. The strong winds of the afternoon dropped as we left the harbor and made our way to Point George and explored the coastline of Shaw Island. Harbor seals, turkey vultures and bald eagles watched us pass. We drifted through the narrow pass from Canoe Island to Picnic Point and crossed to Upright Head. We found a Peregrine Falcon close to Odlin Park who flew when harassed by a crow. The sunset became richer every minute. The reflections resembled a chocolate bar wrapper in the golden waters dotted with Rhinoceros Auklets holding their catch, their beaks lined of fish. Entering the Southern entrance to Friday Harbor as the sunset over the state ferries before sinking below the tree-line.
