Awesome bald eagles and gorgeous skycapes

October 14, 2020 – Great to see the bald eagle pair back on the coastline South of Point Caution after their sojourn to the mainland rivers. Dramatic sky-scapes today and we took a route through the Wasp Islands, Spring Pass and White Rock to bring us up to Sandy Point on Waldron. There had been reports of a minke whale here, but we didn’t locate it before turning around and sailing wing on wing towards Ripple Island. An Immature bald eagle was on top of the aspen grove. We thread our way through the Kelp forests and the Cactus Islands. A scurry of gulls indicated a bait ball in the pass and two bald eagles joined in with diving toward the fish. Gorgeous reflections in mirror waters of Spieden Channel this evening. A fallow buck was calling and there was a stellar sea lion at Green Point. The sunset kindled until the sky was on fire on our sail back to Friday Harbor tonight.
