March 1, 2021 – Today we cast off and sailed south. Harbor seals and sea lions were warming up in the sunshine and bald eagles were all over. We spotted a juvenile eagle outside the harbor along with a steller sea lion. One bald eagle was by Deadman Island, two more bald eagles on Whale Rocks, seven bald eagles on Long Island and another on Mummy Rocks (mixture of juveniles and adults). There were many scoters (surf scoters and white winged scoters) south of Long Island and several black oystercatchers on Mummy Rocks despite the bald eagle perched on the island above them.
