May 17, 2021 – Full day sail North cruising from Point Caution across to the Wasp Islands with black oystercatchers amongst the blue camas on Nob Island reef. On to Jones Island State Park and circling around Flattop Island seeing the eagles nests on the Southeast side. Decreased the mainsail to second reef in the lee of Flattop seeing the layered uplifted geology.
Continuing a fast sail on the ebb to the Cactus Islands and then a peaceful drift close in on the North forested shoreline of Spieden Island. Out into Haro Strait and following the Stuart Island coastline to Lovers Leap and Turn Point Lighthouse. Into Boundary Pass to circle Stuart Island.
Coming through Johns Pass passing Reid Harbor down to the South side of Spieden Island. From Green Point after viewing the Stellers Sea Lions we crossed to the West side of Jones. We took the sheltered route on the lee side of the Wasp Islands and a rain squall hit as we came through Nob Island. Folks sheltered in the pilot house and the shower was short as we continued to sail into San Juan channel with harbor porpoise off Point Caution.
