May 20, 2021 – Half day sail South on the ebb returning as the flood began. With the low tide we saw many harbor seals hauled out warming in the sunshine from Turn Island to Danger Rock and Deadman Island. In the bay North of Kings Point there were quite a number of pigeon guillemots giving their high pitched calls and we saw three common loons. Harlequin ducks were also in fairly large groups. We saw a great blue heron and black oystercatchers as we came through the pass at Deadman Island. Whale Rocks we were surprised by how many young Steller’s sea lions with probable mums we saw. Bald eagles roosted on the rocks. Double crested cormorants are nesting on Goose Island.
