Biggs Orcas T123’s in San Juan Channel

June 10, 2021 – When we left the dock a family of orcas known as the T123’s had crossed from Pt Disney to Lovers Cove on Orcas Island and were coming down Presidents Channel. We took our time sailing through the Wasp Islands and met the orcas as they headed down San Juan Channel passing Jones Island. Wind and current made for pretty choppy conditions and the whales were moving south quickly. We got left behind while sailing and noticed the whales were actually behind us hunting at Yellow Island. Whales were breaching, spy hopping, prey sharing and turned to make a slow track north. It looked like they would take Spieden Channel but made a sudden turn to head north to Boundary Pass. The whales continued on their way and we explored the beauty of New Channel and Flattop Island.  Whales are often a highlight of the trip but seeing our first eaglet peering out of the nest on Flattop Island was very exciting!
