June 26, 2021 – We headed north out of Friday Harbor sailing across to Neck Pt on Shaw Island and through the Wasp Islands. With news of a humpback whale coming down Presidents Channel we continued north up Spring Passage into Presidents Channel and met the whale. We’ve shared images of the humpback whale but haven’t received any updates on the ID. The whale crossed the north side of Jones Island going deep into the bay where boats anchor for the State Park. He/she stayed close to shore before crossing San Juan Channel. A fun sail with a possibly new whale to our area.
