Orcas T77C and T77D along Shaw Island

June 30, 2021 – With whales near Burrows Island we sailed inter-island with the chance to meet them in Rosario Strait. After cutting through Canoe Island to Picnic Pt and taking the coastline to Upright Head we realized these whales were not northbound but did hear of orcas near Cattle Pass. We decided to continue the sail to Obstruction Island and meet these whales later if they came north in San Juan Channel. After a fun, fast sail we learned that the orcas were indeed northbound and we met them after they circled Canoe Island and were cruising the Shaw coastline. The whales were identified as siblings T77C and T77D. We sailed alongside to Neck Point watching the whales in the beautiful sunset.
