August 14, 2021 – Crossed San Juan Channel on light air to Reid Rock and then the Shaw coastline. A quick look at an eagle’s nest and then came into Hicks Bay where a bald eagle watched out over the waters, Quite a number of harbor seals were hauled out deep in the bay. We came back out scanning for a minke whale who was spotted a half hour earlier but without reacquiring. We caught a good wind for a fast sail towards Fishermans Bay on Lopez and then came about to visit Pear Point and view the harbor seals. A family of raccoons was behind some boulders on the South East corner of Turn Island. We sailed through Turn Island Pass seeing another eagle on the North side. The tide had turned to ebb so we motor sailed back to the coastline of Shaw and then sailed towards Point Caution seeing another eagle who watched out across the channel.
