Orcas T18’s plus T60D and T60E by Sidney Island

August 19, 2021 – Our trip started out with a good omen with the orca seaplane landing in the harbor as we cast off.  We had a report of Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T18’s along with T60D and T60E northbound in Haro Strait. We headed north and explored New Channel hoping the orcas would move our direction. However, they decided to keep to the Canadian side of the border taking the west side of Sidney Island. So, without further delay we headed that direction to see them. Stunning evening light and a fiery sunset added to the excited smiles as we sailed back to Port.
