Orcas T18’s socializing with the T37A’s followed by T60D & T60E

August 22, 2021 – We took a beautiful route along the north side of Orcas Island spotting many bald eagles along the way. An Eaglepalooza kind of day. Crossed Presidents Channel over towards Waldron Island and headed back to see Pt Disney. A large group of orcas were spotted socializing north of Flattop Island including the T18’s with the T37A’s (minus T37A1). Lots of great orca vocals on the hydrophone. The orcas eventually moved on towards Presidents Channel going east, but changed direction to head back west. After a few surfacings they were eastbound. Perhaps they couldn’t make up their mind which way they wanted to go. Winds picked up and we reefed our sails and continued our sail in the direction of San Juan Channel. There was another pair of orcas headed up the channel along the San Juan shoreline. It was brothers T60D and T60E. We got a few looks at them before continuing back to the Port of Friday Harbor.
