June 20, 2022 – It was spectacular getting an opportunity to see a pair of humpback whales coming down the channel passing Friday Harbor – and it happened to be BCY0324 “Big Mama” and her newest (7th) calf! After we left the whales we decided on a course through the inter-islands passing Obstruction Island to explore Rosario Strait. With great winds for sailing we crossed over to Cypress Island and nosed around the top to scan for more blows. With nothing showing we turned back and had another fun sail heeling across the Strait passing Obstruction Island once again. This time we headed over the top of Shaw Island and through the Wasp Islands before returning to Friday Harbor.
