August 2, 2022 – We cast off rather quickly to catch up with some Biggs/Transient orcas known as the T75B’s who were southbound in San Juan Channel. The orcas stalled out near Pear Pt to hunt harbor seals. They were successful in their predation with evidence of all the gulls coming in for scraps as well as a bald eagle swooping down for a bite. We also spotted some remains floating on the surface that looked like the spinal cord of a harbor seal as a guess. The group of orcas tucked deep into Griffin Bay hugging the coastline on their way down with several more predations. As they reached Cattle Pass they stopped for more hunting along the shoreline in front of onlookers near the lighthouse. We watched the orcas as they crossed over Salmon Bank and then we broke away to go find some minke whales.
