October 20, 2022 – Northbound in smokey mist we were surprised by T49C and T49A2 swimming fast into Spieden Channel. Syphops as they looked above the surface during a hunt of a harbor seal and then onwards towards Battleship Island. The wind picked up with a dramatic black sky so we span around to leave them Southbound off Henry Island and sailed North to New Channel. We drift sailed the forested shoreline under bald eagles and great blue heron, but span around again when we heard orcas had come through Johns Pass just behind us. In a short while we were with the T65As (minus T65A2 and T65A5) traveling and hunting from Gossip Island around the Southern coastline of Stuart Island. Skies were darkening and rain was imminent so we resumed our course for New Channel and into sunset skies over Friday Harbor.
