July 13, 2023 – Today was a whale of a sail! We got to see several families of Biggs/Transient orcas as they traveled up Haro Strait between Battleship Island and Moresby Island. The groups consisted of the T49A’s (minus T49A2), T65A’s plus T65A5, T65B’s, and T77 with T77E. After we left the orcas we came around the north coast of Stuart Island and down through Johns Pass into New Channel. Here we spotted many harbor seals with newborn pups, pigeon guillemots, and adult and juvenile bald eagles. On Spieden Island there were also some Sika deer resting in the grass and some Mouflon sheep and rams out and about. As we sailed back to Friday Harbor we enjoyed a very beautiful sunset.
