August 27, 2023 – Biggs/Transient orcas T60D and T60E had come south that morning over Salmon Bank so we decided to go south in case they hung around. The flood was running so we came inside Turn Island and hugged the coastline to Pear Point seeing many harbor seals. Likewise we came close to Goose Island and Cattle Point Lighthouse before shooting across to Whale Rocks. There were noticeably more Steller sea lions there, and the sea otter was here again and was eating a clam. We sailed inside Long Island to Iceberg Point, and admired some of the south Lopez coastline. On the return we found lively bait balls south of Long Island, but no minke whales surfaced nearby. T60D and T60E had made fast progress to Smith Island returning to Lopez Island in the evening.
