Sept 1, 2023 – We headed south after leaving Friday Harbor checking out the harbor seals south of Turn Rock and by Deadman Island. There were many Steller sea lions at Whale Rocks including a large group who were playful in the water. There had been a humpback whale by Eagle Point who was moving south so we headed that direction. We never did see the humpback tail flukes, but based on the dorsal fin we believe the humpback whale to be BCZ0345 “Victory”. The whale continued southbound towards the bottom of Salmon Bank. After leaving the humpback we passed close by Cattle Point Lighthouse and the cormorants nesting at Goose Island. There were many harbor seals lined up there on the beach.
