June 13, 2024 – Upon casting off we headed north on account of Biggs/Transient orcas, T36’s with T36A1 and T36A1A, coming through Spieden Channel. We met them after they came through Spring Pass and sailed alongside to watch them swim through Pole Pass. At Broken Point we caught up with them again and watched them go towards the harbor seals at the entrance to Blind Bay. A hunt ensued and it seemed the orcas were on the beach very close to shore with a lot of splashing. The T65A’s (minus T65A3 and T65A5) last seen near the Lopez Ferry Landing had joined the mix. T65A2, the large male, came in fast. We watched a lot of surface activity next to the rocks with backlit blows as we sailed west into the sunset.
