T2B in San Juan Channel

August 11, 2024 – We left post haste on news of orcas passing Turn Island and met Biggs/Transient orca T2B passing Reid Rock. She was traveling alone despite usually traveling with the T60’s who were later found in Rosario Strait. We sailed parallel, but she flipped direction taking us back to Shaw Island where we saw a bald eagle along the coastline. We had some good views as she flipped again to the north. At Yellow Island it looked like she popped in for a seal on the west sand spit. Sailing on to Jones Island State Park T2B flipped again to the south while we continued to New Channel, the Cactus Islands and Ripple Island. There were many harbor seals hauled out and pigeon guillemots giving their high pitched vocals. Sailed across to Flattop Island seeing more harbor seals and then pushed south to return to Friday Harbor by way of Spring Pass.
