T60D and E off Long Island

August 22, 2024 – A southerly short sail extended to see some orcas. We passed by many resting harbor seals near Pear Point before cutting inside Griffin Bay to find a back eddy. As we went by Goose Island we checked out the nesting cormorants and gulls before riding the current across to see the Steller sea lions at Whale Rocks. As we neared Long Island we spotted the two male Biggs/Transient orca brothers T60D and T60E. They were circling the island repeatedly likely looking for dinner hugging the shoreline and swimming through kelp forests. The sun was setting and it was time to make tracks back to the harbor after an exciting orca encounter while watching a beautiful sunset.
