A Lovely Short Sail to Enjoy the Sunset

August 28, 2024 – A short sunset sail out into San Juan Channel, around Turn Island and back to Friday Harbor. Despite the short sail, there was plenty of wildlife and beautiful scenery to be experienced. The late afternoon sun shone brilliantly on the bark of the madrone trees along the Shaw shoreline, and as we sailed against shore we spotted some majestic bald eagles looking down at us. We had a fantastic view of Mt. Baker as we made our way south in San Juan Channel towards Turn Island. Harbor seals rested on the rocks as we rounded Turn, and as the sun began to set, the mats of bull kelp shone in the golden hour light. On our way back to Friday Harbor, Mt. Baker treated us by turning pink in the sunset.
