Foggy sail down south

September 19, 2024 – South in the fog around Turn Island where raccoons foraged and harbor seals rested. Down the Lopez coastline in the fog with a sail across to Cape San Juan tacking through Cattle Pass. Many harbor seals were on Deadman Island and the fog cleared as we came out to Whale Rocks. Steller sea lion were up to their usual shenanigans. Fog rolled in again and we tucked inside Long Island where it was very pretty draped in the sea mist. Headed out to MacArthur Bank and Salmon Bank listening and sniffing for. minke whales, but very limited visibility made it challenging. We came back in through Cattle Pass with a help of the strong flood current and the sea mist gradually cleared in a beautiful way.
