Biggs/Transient orcas T137’s and T60D & T60E

September 20, 2024 – Leaving Friday Harbor we noticed orcas in East Sound had now turned South. These were the T137’s with T60D and T60E. So we kept a good speed to head in their direction via Turn Island, Canoe Island and Upright Head. We arrived just as they finished hunting at Twin Rocks and it soon became apparent that they were parting ways. We stayed with the T137’s for a couple of surface sequences as they headed towards Obstruction Pass, and then set a course to catch up with orca brothers T60D and T60E. Their backlit blows were clearly visible from a mile and a half distant and we caught up with them at Canoe Island southwestbound. Gorgeous views as they rounded Shaw Island and hunted in Hicks Bay. They traveled close to the sunset lit shoreline and we left them at Parks Bay.
Side note: T137A is showing an injury on the right side of his face.
