Northerly sail through sea mist to Flattop Island

September 24, 2024 – Sailing north from Friday Harbor with bands of sea mist smothering the islands in a white blanket. Weaved our way through the Wasp Islands and sailed onwards to Flattop Island. Harbor seals hauled out and a bald eagle watched us from up above. Bonaparte’s gulls gathered on the island to rest. Glassy conditions with hazy air made for a magical scene. Cut across to Ripple Island and navigated through the narrow pass and around the rocks and in between the Cactus Islands. Rode down the coast of Spieden Island and back down the San Juan coastline to Friday Harbor.
