Sailing north to Flattop and New Channel

September 30, 2024 – Northerly winds gave us a nice sail as we tacked our way up the channel all the way to Spring Pass. Headed over to Flattop Island where there were many harbor seals hauled out warming up and a bald eagle was sitting in its nest. Cut across to Ripple Island and through the maze of islands in New Channel. There were hundreds of Bonaparte’s gulls around. We also saw harbor porpoise, harbor seals, bald eagles in tree tops, and Steller sea lions working the shoreline of Spieden Island. Mouflon sheep were busy foraging on Spieden Island and a few Steller sea lions were in the water near Green Pt.
