Biggs/Transient Orcas T19’s near Satellite Channel

October 6, 2024 – We took a northerly route on account of Biggs/Transient orcas off County Park two hours prior. As we passed Jones Island the orcas, T19’s, were seen west of Spieden Island heading up Stuart Island shoreline. We came through New Channel and crossed Haro Strait eventually meeting the fast moving orcas north of Coal Island near Sidney Ferry Terminal. They continued to move west into Satellite Channel and we left them to return via Moresby Island and Turn Pt Lighthouse. We followed the shoreline of Stuart Island down passed Lovers Leap and took the south side of Spieden Island back to San Juan Channel. Wildlife sightings include harbor seals, bald eagles, Steller sea lions, killdeer, fallow deer and Mouflon sheep, and cormorants.
