October 16, 2024 – With news of Biggs/Transient orcas T19’s coming south in San Juan Channel we arranged a spur of the moment sail with repeat passengers to see the orcas. We met them near Pt Caution and admired the backlit blows as they hugged the coastline down. They turned into Friday Harbor for a brief visit and we sailed alongside as they made their way towards Turn Island. It was cool to see them come inside and through the kelp bed of Minnesota Reef. The orcas turned and continued up Upright Channel and stopped for a bite to eat near Picnic Cove. After a fun encounter we came about and made tracks back to Friday Harbor before the rains came.
