October 23, 2024 – We took a northerly tack to sail up San Juan Channel and after crossing halfway to mid channel our passenger noticed a whale near Pt Caution. Coming about to sail south we met a minke whale who passed Friday Harbor. We were able to sail alongside with several good views and left the whale heading towards Cattle Pass while we continued on the current line for a fast sail to Lopez Island. Coming into Fisherman’s Bay we heard and then saw a bald eagle. Sailing out we caught the current line to sail north to Upright Channel crossing to Shaw Island. A second bald eagle was on the northern point of Hicks Bay. Stepped out into the current for a sail across the channel back into Friday Harbor.
